I know Norton's doesn't like Boinc. I don't remember anything on MW though.

If you have them in Boinc and they are not listed on MW site then just abort them. If they are on MW and not in Boinc just ignore them and they will timeout and get resent. It seems to happen on occasion.

Getting no tasks. Validator looks to be starting to back up; 1600+ tasks.

edit: got a few tasks finally. Looks like it is trying. Could be the tasks are much smaller now the server can't keep up with the demand.

edit 2: The n-body credit is way less now. 11 min for 1.8 credits. I won't bother running the n-body tasks for now as I can get 10 credits/hour at Rosetta.

More downtime. Most of server is still down. Since the site is up now I guess someone is working on getting it going again?

Not to worry. I can continue to run the separation units or go to my backup projects. Thanks again.
Try 0.84

I will report back as soon as I can. Since yesterday all I have been able to get is a message from the server saying that the project is shut down for maintenance. It does seem to be intermittent but my timing for trying to get new work units and report finished ones has been bad. It is down when I check and it is up when I'm away (Murphy's Law, no doubt). I'll keep trying.

The site has been down for hours now if you didn't know. Most of the server is still off.

I still wish there was a way for us to have more tasks "in the bank" to carry us through the outtages - whether they be system wide crashes or just routine maintenance.

The n-body have ran longer lately, but that doesn't help out gpu's at all.

That is most likely because I had to restore my computer last week. It only give a few tasks completed total, and that is about all I have done this week since MW came back online. I haven't had any invalids since the new apps came out. I do check each task to see they validate and I get credit. This has to do with the settings of MW/Boinc since numerous other people keep posting this very question about multi-hundred hour tasks.

Once you have 10 valid WUs for the n-body application, the "server side DCF" kicks in, and the estimates will be (or should be) close enough to the real runtimes, so they should not run in high-priority mode all the time (after the client side DCF has adjusted to the new estimates).

I've run dozens and it only dropped from ~850 hours to ~450 hours even though my longest has been ~80 hours. Mw has the n-body really overestimated. The ps-tasks corrected to the right time long ago.

@Ocean: MW has almost always ran in high priority mode for me. It doesn't bother me as I seem to have my computer set how it works for me. If you don't want to run the n-body you can set yourself to only run ps tasks, which for now are shorter tasks. I believe you need an app_info file for that.

See any of the other numerouts posts on this. Why no mention is made on the site, I don't know.

N-body tasks have a poor estimate time. The best way is to let it run a few and calculate it out to see if you want to run it. They are all like this. I have had 2hours to 80+ hours on these tasks.

but there are no lines indicating upload of results.

MW changed awhile back. It doesn't use a seperate command(right word?) to upload the results. It does it when it talks to the server at one time. It was done to help take some strain off of the server. I believe MW also doesn't create a seperate result file now. Since it doesn't do the uploading seperate you don't see it in Boinc.

M,

got today a very big WU (234 hours BIG) is this normal?? and the deadline is 13 december

The n-body tasks vary in actual run length. The guess time is much larger and not very acurate. Let it run a bit and calculate out the time yourself to see if you want to run it. Lately I have had two that wanted to run over 80 hours each, I only ran one and aborted the other.

Also next time go to the "Numbers Crunching" section and do a little searching. You don't need to post this multiple times.

Only a couple of blips since the 22nd. So it seems that only the website is partially up and barely functual.[/url]
