Description | This is the New Mexico Milky Way Team. This team is for everyone wants to be a part of the New Mexico team including military, indigenous people, university students and faculty, scientists, corporate employees, small businesses, and every citizen.

What is Milky Way at home all about?
Our solar system is only one star within the Milky Way Galaxy. At some point in time our galaxy was created and it forms a large sphere. Subsequently collisions with other galaxies have occurred increasing the size of the Milky Way. The structures of galaxies that have merged with our own still exist and this includes dark matter. Dark matter is matter that cannot be seen, including black holes. Though dark matter cannot be seen, evidence indicates that it is distributed throughout the Milky Way. In fact, a super massive black hole is thought to exist within the center of the Milky Way.
The scientists and technical staff of Rensselaer Polytechnic are in the process of creating an incredible 3D model of the Milky Way galaxy to help us to understand the dark matter and how it affects our galaxy.
Help the New Mexico team in this effort and be a part of something worthwile. Everyone pulling together adds up to a very significant amount of computing power, so everyone's contribution matters. Come on and help make us great; you can make a difference. Please join our team. |
