Welcome to MilkyWay@home

Profile: Gene Weber

Your personal background.
Originally from Texas, now residing in California. Program Director for the Eastbay Astronomical Society and a Volunteer at the Chabot Space and Science Center (both located in Oakland, CA - USA).

I am an earth and space science enthusiast; amateur astronomer and cosmologist; an avid reader in the aforementioned fields. I love animals, botany and gardening, geology, computers, sci-fiction stories and movies, music (especially Jazz), photography, and collecting precious metals. Hobbies also include collecting/creating/building steampunk-style paraphernalia.

The study of particle physics is scientifically awesome. Distributed group computing (like MilkyWay@Home and LHC@Home) helps crunch the numbers and hopefully results in some new discoveries. It's a worthy endeavor in which I wish to be involved and make a contribution.
