Your personal background. |
SETI user since 1999. Engineer, software guy. Help produce a local TV show, Astronomy For Everyone. There are a few episodes on youtube, but we hope to get the 60+ archive episodes up soon. I've been into astronomy off and on all my life. In 1972, i showed the scouts at camp a partial eclipse of the Sun using eyepiece projection with a small scope. I've been heavily into astronomy outreach for the most recent 15 years. |
Your opinions about MilkyWay@home |
As an amateur astronomer, there's an obvious draw: citizen science. As a Linux user, i don't get to see the simulations, except on youtube. I only recently learned that there's a Facebook page. I like the lectures the most. It's one thing to see a simulation, and another thing altogether to hear how a series of simulations helps solve some astronomical problem. These stories are really cool. |
