Just passed 500K on MW. I too am working on some credit goals, I will let my stats come thru this time so you can see, but I am trying to get my WCG stats above my Seti stats, then I have Rosetta, etc, etc. I am also trying to get up into the top 100 in the short term and the top 50 long term. I am at #109 in the World in Boinc right now!

Although I'll never reach your position, I'm close to being in the top 25K for Boinc and almost in the top 500 for my country (the Netherlands). Anthony. A couple of newer gpu's and you too could be flying high!! In fact I passed Zydor a while back, in the overall Boinc stats, he got a couple of brand new AMD gpu's, the 7990's, and is coming back with a vengeance! In the last couple of months I was able to sell some old pc parts and get some Xmas cash and was to put together TWO AMD X6 machines, each having dual pci-e slots, but using lots of recycled parts. I have now reduced my overall machine count, but upped my total cpu core count, and am getting a higher RAC as a result! With NO loss of gpu functionality either! ID: 52712 · Rating: 0 · rate:

Here is from a normal guy who is a scientist (Geologist - retired)and likes Astronomy. I went out and bought a Dell XPS-9100 i-930 machine to do video work and have been chugging along with just the a mid strength video card but it wasn't double precision. Got some Christmas money and bought a AMD 6950 ...just the 1GB size...Milkyway was at 300k at Christmas added the new board Jan 1. WHAT A CHANGE! Using gpu's is fun isn't it?!!!! When a project gets it right it is downright fun AND exciting AND helpful to the RAC too!!! Gpu's can bring older pc's back to life and make them viable crunchers again too! BE CAREFUL THOUGH not all gpu's work in all older machines, the slots in older machines are NOT always compatible!!! Just passed 4 million credits! The project is working my computer perfectly 150k credits/day... Took the side off the case so.. GPU - Radeon - 6950 is running at 72 degrees at full load and a 65% fan speed and is chugging out 150k/day the last couple of days ID: 52839 · Rating: 0 · rate:

Here is a little trick I use to keep the dust out if you've removed the side cover. Find the largest window AC filter you can buy.( They look like a thin piece of sponge) Also buy a roll of velcro tape. Take the prickly side of the tape and place it around the edges of the tower. Stick the filter to it and trim off the excess. Done. Remove filter when necessary, clean and replace. I have 2 towers running with this and it works great.

Milestone: 6 million today! and got below 12k in World Rank and 1100 in RAC Tweaked my AMD 6950 GPU board using Catalyst Control Centre with the GPU clock set at 820 Mhz and the Memory Clock at 1300 Mhz and just let it GO!
