Post: Now that we have v1.93 available, and hopefully this one will work without any invalids or errors, should we delete any 'leftover' v1.92 tasks in our Linux task cache? |

Post: I'm still getting errors and invalids... as well as some Valid's also.As far as I can see, all the WUs, that errored out for you, were created before Kevin's latest message. it will take some time, before those are out from the system, I'm not sure if Kevin was able to increase the limit for new results or only new WUs. As far as I can tell myself, these are all resends - those ending in numbers greater than 1 - with #'s of 2 thru 5. Am I mistaken, or were you supposed to have deleted these error prone tasks? Either way, I have only a few left in my cache - less than 100. Do you still have more 'resends' to send out? |

Post: Somewhat annoying...Well, this WU was created before the change (well, at least before Kevin's message), not sure if the change applies to new results or just new WUs. Your message indicates that your link to https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/workunit.php?wuid=1003011105 was created BEFORE Kevin's post: Your link: Created 28 May 2025, 19:09:11 UTC Kevin's post sent: Posted: 28 May 2025, 18:56:56 UTC - in response to Message 77453. |

Post: Ooops! Sorry! I forgot that I did abort literally all of those in an effort to get Orbit Fitting to not give me single tasks when I have x4 CPUs in my app_config.xml file.Don't use app_config.xml anymore for setting the number of threads per WU, use MilkyWay@home preferences instead, than you will get what you want. I already do use the Milkyway preferences for just that.[/img] |

Post: The same applies to me. I have nearly 2,200 errors.Nearly all of your errors are Aborted by user, 203 (0x000000CB) EXIT_ABORTED_VIA_GUI. Users aborting 2000 WUs is not an issue we are talking here about. Ooops! Sorry! I forgot that I did abort literally all of those in an effort to get Orbit Fitting to not give me single tasks when I have x4 CPUs in my app_config.xml file. |

Post: Still seeing the errors. I have very low caches on each host but the older resends are still coming through with the misconfiguration. It will probably take a fairly long while to clear all the bad work with 8 possible resends for each task. The same applies to me. I have nearly 2,200 errors. |

Post: I've not checked every failed Orbit task, but the large number I did check were all from the 03_29_2024 data feed and all seemed to have task names without "orbit_fitting" -- oops! :-) Hi alanb1951, Please let us know when you have resolved the errors and we can begin testing/BOINC'ing the "orbit_fitting" tasks again. Thanks! |

Commenting on Recent Issues with the server
(Message 76671)
Posted 1 Dec 2023 by GWGeorge007
Post: Hello Kevin, My name is George Generke, Co-Administrator of GPU Users Group, and I would like to thank you for stepping up and trying to resurrect the MilkyWay project. I realize that you have a large learning curve to deal with, but I'm sure that you will get it sorted out eventually. Also, I would like to add that we in GPU Users Group are not complainers or do we provide unwanted feedback to MilkyWay as you refer to others that have done so. It is unfortunate, but myself and the rest of my teammates are on your side and will do what we can to help if need be. As for your comment about "the need for better communication", I'll give you my thoughts since you asked. I think that communication is important and I hope that you can live up to your goals that you are setting. As you work though the challenges of getting things set to right, so to speak, I think at least a little blurb about once per week would be good so that we and other members/crunchers of MilkyWay can see your attempted progress. As it comes about when you make progress towards your goals, I think that you could re-schedule your time to a more lenient time frame of maybe once per month, if for no other reason than to say "all's well". One thing that so many of us crunchers on MilkyWay were sad to see go was the ending of GPU tasks. Many of us, including those in GPU Users Group, miss that. It did cause many to switch to a different project. Are there any plans in the future of bringing GPU tasks back to life? I think I speak for all those that do and did MilkyWay that we would welcome it back again. Once again, I would like to give you a warm welcome and say thank you for stepping up and making the progress in learning the ways of BOINC and getting the new server online. THANK YOU! Best regards, George Generke Hello everyone, |

I'm curious about something in the event log
(Message 75885)

Post: I've resumed my Milkyway tasks after changing from GPU to CPU tasks and I'm getting 16 tasks on 16 CPUs. That's okay, but in my event log I have this which I'm not quite sure what it means: Thu 22 Jun 2023 03:56:34 PM CDT | M@H | [sched_op] CPU work request: 1.00 seconds; 13.60 devices Any clue as to what "13.60 devices" means ? |

Updated GPU Requirements (Currently not supporting GPU tasks)
(Message 68616)
Posted 28 Apr 2019 by GWGeorge007
Post: I have an old computer (10+ yrs) with an ASUS Nvidia GT220 Graphics Card. Recently it has stopped doing any work, though I do have ~1.6M work credits for MilkyWay@home. After reading most of the posts in Updated GPU Requirements I can't help but wonder if my GPU has been dropped from the list of accepted GPUs. I do use it for Einstein and SETI projects and they still do work just fine. Should I write this off as "fun while it lasted"? |
